Vacancy Announcement: Board of Education Member Appointment

Following the recent and sudden loss of Board Member Trey Harrell, two steps are required to fill the District 1 seat on the Early County Board of Education.

First, District 1 has been added to the May 19, 2026 General Election ballot, along with Districts 3 and 4.

All individuals elected to the Board of Education from the May 19th election will take office on January 1, 2027.

Second, because the vacancy occurred outside of the 90-day window prior to the election, Georgia law requires the Board to appoint someone to serve for the remainder of this calendar year.

The Board will make this appointment after the March 25, 2026 application deadline, and the appointed member will serve through December 31, 2026.

District 1 residents who meet the qualifications are encouraged to apply.
