ECHS Senior and FBLA President Jaylen Walters Attends Prestigious Georgia Tech Summer Institute

Posted Date: 8/15/25 (7:00 AM)

This summer, ECHS Senior and FBLA President Jaylen Walters was selected as one of only 100 students from across Georgia to attend the Georgia Tech Summer Institute — a weeklong program designed to immerse students in campus life, academics, and leadership.
Participants were divided into groups to explore Georgia Tech’s seven colleges, take part in team-building activities, and experience what makes the university one of the nation’s top schools. Jaylen chose to focus on the College of Engineering and the College of Computing.
In the College of Engineering, Jaylen programmed and built a remote-controlled rubber-band launching tank and designed wooden airplanes to learn the principles of aerodynamics. In the College of Computing, he programmed a computing board that played Rock, Paper, Scissors, using a custom-trained AI model to recognize hand signals on camera.
Outside the labs, Jaylen enjoyed exploring the Georgia Tech campus, dining in buffet-style food courts, and building friendships through activities like volleyball, bowling, and Jenga.
“Georgia Tech is my dream college,” Jaylen said. “I really enjoyed my time there exploring and learning about the campus.”
Congratulations, Jaylen, on representing ECHS with excellence and getting a head start on your future!
